Virtual Course

As an experiment we have been offering a virtual course on line -- that runs parallel to a course running at IMC UK/IMC USA  or IMC NSW-- to old students who are not able to come to a centre because of the pandemic. After seeing excellent results, we have decided to offer this more widely. This is being offered only to experienced old students who have joined a course at a Centre in the recent past.

You are welcome to join this course if you are able to set your home up like a centre for the duration of the ten days.  This means that, ideally you are alone in your home.  If that is not possible, you can still arrange things in such away that you can do the course.  You should (1) not leave the premises for the whole period of the course; (2)  you should keep noble silence at all times (noble silence in the sense that you do not speak except when it is absolutely necessary); (3) that you should be able to stay in a room separate from all other members of the household where you can sleep and meditate, and (4) a condition for you to be accepted for the course is that you join the checking sessions daily to talk to the teacher.

Ideally, you would also take your meals alone, or, at least, separately from others in your household.  Of course, except for attending the online course and Zoom checking sessions, you should not use your phone or computer or any other means to communicate with people outside your house for the whole ten days. You should also avoid reading and writing.

If you would like to join an online course, and are able to do all this, please apply as you would for a normal course, indicating that you are interested in the virtual online course.  Shortly before the course, we will send you a link and a password which will be valid for the ten days of the course.  This will allow you to join all the group meditations and the discourses which will be transmitted to each time zone at their local time.  We will also send you a Zoom link for the daily checking and interviews.

However, in principle, because of the nature of the teaching, we only teach residential courses and the online courses are only a last resort. But this last resort may not be suitable for some, even old established students, and, therefore we may ask some students to be patient until such time as they can come to a Centre again.

P.S.

It is very important that you will under no circumstances try to record any part of the virtual course for later re-use.

In addition to the full virtual online course explained above, to help you keep up your practicse, we are also transmitting the daily group meditations on the web so you can join us.

It is set to 8am-9am and again at 7.30pm-8.30pm (local time). This means anyone around the world can log onto the page and be able to join at these sitting times in their own time zone.

If you would like to join, please contact your local IMC
